Product Feature #1: Eachine E58 Pocket Drone

As mentioned, over the next few months, we will be featuring some reviews and information about some of our favourite products here at Gadgetcetera. Our first product walk-through will be for the E58 Pocket Drone. This product will be featured in a few separate posts, as there is a lot to get through. This first post will focus on the shipping, what’s included, basic parts and features.

First of all, we wanted to experience this product just as you would, so we ordered an E58 Pocket Drone through our own store. The order was placed on Jan 30, 2019. We paid via PayPal. The drone arrived on Feb 21, 2019, so 23 days for delivery. Our average delivery time is 3-6 weeks so this arrived on the early end of that timeline.

Unboxing this drone was a fun experience. The drone arrived in a small box (see photos), and our first impression was that the drone was a little bit smaller than it looked in the photos. You can see in our photos that this is not a large drone. It’s described as a pocket drone, meaning it’s larger than a mini-drone, but not full size. The pencil in the photos is for scale (and not included…unless you really want it).

The drone that we ordered came with two batteries (more battery options available), a charging cable, instruction booklet, extra propeller blades, the remote, a mini-screwdriver and the drone itself. The drone is really cool looking as you can see in the product gallery images. It folds up nicely to make it safer to put in a bag or box. The camera that we ordered is 2mp, and we can’t wait to get this thing up in the air.

The remote features a spring-loaded slide down holder for your phone which on first test seems to hold the phone really well (Galaxy S9 here to test).

A couple of minor things: be careful to put the battery in the correct way. It does actually fit in upside-down, and we made the mistake of doing this. It took quite a bit of effort to get it out. If you are smart (unlike us), you can look at the slant on the battery and align that with the case. You probably won’t have this problem.

Also, the controller does require 3AA batteries that are not included. The batteries charge with the included mini-USB cable. There is not a charging wall adapter included, so we used one that we had lying around (5v), but it can also be charged by any computer USB port.

We can’t wait to test fly this beauty. It is still -25 degrees in Winnipeg, Canada, our home, so we may have to fly this indoors until we can get outside a little more comfortably.
